DjMagra’s stuff ‘n’ stuff

Well, it’s the last day of March, my first month of having a blog on the web! Thanks to Donncha for providing the excellent service that he has, I owe ya a few brews pal!

I’m well chuffed with myself, got myself set up with reverse DNS for my domain today and have been playing around with the lan at home a wee bit. Also getting my Linux box in work up and running well, even have access to it from home now which is pretty cool, although when I migrate that over to my main machine, that might be a bad idea as I’ll probably end up doing work at all hours again as I have before! Starting to miss working at all hours mind, the regular 9-5 has been nice for a while, but feels kinda alien to me!

Anyways, I’m away to get into bed, instead of actually lying on it as I am at the moment, I’m not feeling well, ate some dodgy food in work today…yuck!

Monday morning, and my first task of the day is to come up with a new naming convention for my network at home, I’m getting kinda bored with desktop, laptop, spare machine, mac etc, although it’s conventional and easy to use! Any ideas out there, gimme a shout, I’m open to suggestion!

Well, at last I finally got round to setting up a Linux machine for myself in work. It’s not on the work lan yet, I’m going out accross my DSL line until I have it properly up and running, then I’ll migrate it over to the lan. I had Red Hat 8 on it yesterday, but I have to say Red Hat 8 really is bloatware, this machine is only a P3 400 with a 2MB Graphics card and RH8 was dog slow on it, so I decided to root out some older RH cd’s last night and came accross some RH7.2 disks which is now running on the system and it’s much smoother.

I see today that BBC news have a story about Salam’s Blog on their website that’s worth a read

Well, I think I have officially found the best blog on the net, and as a result I also think the best city in the world, Zurich!! Not so sure that the girls out there are going to appreciate the city as much as the lads would, then again, you never know….

I see that following on from what was said at the SAGE Symposium on Data Retention the Department of Justice have finally got their website with details on their proposed Data Retention up and running.
Well, just about up and running anyways, it looks like they currently have some issues with their security certificates (doh!) but that will hopefully be sorted pretty soon! I’m too tired and busy to currently take in whats there, but I’ll have a read over it tomorrow

I see Salam’s Blog has been updated again. He’s alive and ok, and giving some excellent updates, well worth a look if you haven’t already

hmm, just been talking to a few of the guys here about Salam’s blog and I see that it hasn’t been updated at all recently. Wonder if he’s ok and what’s going on. The site itself is hosted in America, so it’s possible that he may just have lost connectivity…here’s hoping!

Yet another fab weekend had! The weather was as I expected pretty amazing! On saying that I spent most of the day Saturday in the pub and didn’t get to see much sunshine. I was too busy watching Rugby, jesus I don’t know I didn’t collapse in a heap watching the Ireland match on Saturday. Had a great day all in all, and I am sooh looking forward to next Sunday now for the showdown with England in Lansdowne. I’m still on my quest to get tickets, but here’s hoping!

The clocks change next weekend which I am really looking forward to too, at last it’s going to start feeling a little more like summer, or at least a little less like winter anyways! With the good weather recently, all as people seem to be talking about is the summer, I know almost everyone I spoke to this weekend was talking about the summer and how amazing it would be to get a good one! We’re due one at this stage I suppose.

Haven’t got around to planning what I’m going to do this week, don’t have anything urgent to do, so we’ll see what happens!
