I received an email from Donal Cunningham today, asking me to clarify a few issues relating to my previous blog on Data Retention here in Ireland.

Donal wanted to clear up some of the confusion that I had, and therefore portrayed in relation to the retention of ‘Traffic Data’ as opposed to ‘Traffic Content’. He arrived at his figures based on the fact that Internet Traffic doubles day on day, month on month, year on year (see here for further proof!). Therefore, with a little fuzzy maths thrown in, this years ‘Data Content’ should equal next years ‘Data Traffic’. This is taken at using a headers to content ratio of 1:1. While this may not be 100% accurate, it was used for the purpose of the SAGE meeting.

Donal is also going to update his slides from the meeting at some stage.
