I have the most irritating problem with my oterwise flawless laptop (its a Dell Inspiron 8100), and that is that it makes the strangest noise from time to time. It’s not a mechanical noise, it sounds like the speakers are transmitting some sort of electrical interference, and I have to say the only time I can ever remember hearing it is when I am dialled up, which to me would indicate some sort of problem with my modem. It is not however my modem feeding back noise via the sound bus, as even when I have the speakers muted I still get the annoying noise….grrrr is all I can say to that one!
