Michael O’ Leary is being his usual self in an article in todays Irish Independant, you really got to admire the guy!
RYANAIR boss Michael O’Leary said yesterday he would have no sympathy for British owners of second homes in France if he decided to axe routes serving their weekend retreats.
His comments came as the airline revealed it makes 15.49 profit on average for each passenger it carries.
While the growth was less spectacular than recent gains, analysts were upbeat about the performance.
Mr O’Leary noted some Ryanair routes launched this summer from Stansted had “underperformed”, including “one or two French destinations”.
Noting some routes were flying at 70pc capacity, he said they would be axed unless there was “significant improvement” in winter.
Asked what he would say to people who had second homes in France on the basis of Ryanair connections, Mr O’Leary said: “Nothing.”
Then he added: “I would be mystified if anyone is buying a property in France or Spain, on the basis that Ryanair does what? Give them a lifetime guarantee of cheap fares?
“We don’t have any obligation to second home owners that we are always going to carry you there for ever and a day.
“Please don’t ask me to feel sorry for rich people with second homes in France.”
