Dublin City Collective
18 05 2004I received the below email and thought it’s a worthy cause, so, I ought to give it a mention on here, site looks good and has lots of potential, keep up the good work Paul
my name is Paul Kavanagh and I just stumbled across your blog. I was
wondering if you could help me get the word out about a new Dublin
grass-roots community site which I’ve just launched.
http://dublin.citycollective.com
My idea is to create an online community for Dublin where locals can connect
with one another via classifieds, forums, personals etc. The goal is to
create a non-commercial, community-focused site, so it is devoid of all
commercial advertising and completely free to use. I’ve just launched and
don’t have any money for advertising, so I’m busy trying to drive traffic to
it via links from other sites. I hope that it can eventually become a really
useful resource for Dubliners.
Maybe you could mention it in your blog ? Or even if you could just check it
out and let me know what you think, that’d be really helpful too.

He sent the same email to me. The only reason I never mentioned him was because I completely forgot about it. Looks like he was spamming us a little, Bad Paul!
hey donncha - sorry if you perceived the email as spam…that hurts! i went to great lengths to keep my site spam free, so this is kinda ironic
i’m just trying to get the word out about a non-commercial, non-profit service for dubliners, and given my resources, email/blogs/links are pretty much the only route I can take. i’ve only emailed about 20 or so bloggers so far (over the course of weeks), so I wouldn’t call it bulk mail just yet! anyway, surely it’s better than all those “Increase your size” emails
cheers,
-paul
I’m in no way associated with him, but I’ll side with both Paul and Donncha on this one, just a tad spammy, but a good idea for the site none the less!
