The 20D is being shipped by New York Cameras (ny-camera.net), who, despite the name, are based in Germany. This means that there are no VAT / excise implications, and VAT is payed at the German rate of 16.5%. If you have a registered VAT number here, you can enter this on the order form, and they simply don’t charge you the VAT.

I am currently having issues contacting them to receive a status update on my order. I do know they were going through a location change over the past few days, so, that might have part to do with it, but I’m getting slightly worried as they have not responded to emails / fax / telephone calls.
