Prince Rainier in ICU
22 03 2005I’ve just been reading that Prince Rainier of Monaco has just been moved to an Intensive Care Unit in a bid to alleviate the pulmonary infection which he is currently suffering. Unfortunately, for a man of his age (81) this is a pretty serious and sinister development. It would be a shame to see him pass away, he is a man I have always admired through the years.
Just out of interest, what is it about him that you admired??
Well, I admire him on a number of different levels, I suppose I think that every prince charming should marry a princess or a movie star or something, which he done, he raised what seem like a pretty normal, beautiful and stable family (bear in mind, we’re talking in the context of Royal families here), he raised the profile of Monaco to one that no-longer relies on tourism and gambling in order to survive, building up the business interest in the country and generally he seems to be liked by all those living in his princapality and in the wider echelons of people who have had dealings with him on all levels.
Oh, he’s also be a massive supporter of Formula One through the years too, which is a big plus in my books!
