Croker to host six nations?

18 11 2005

So, it would appear that the fire in Lansdowne Roads North Terrace that has resulted in it being closed for all this years November Tests, as well as the upcoming FAI cup final, has revealed serious structural problems with the North Terrace in Lansdowne, and I have heard through the grapevine that it has also prompted the IRFU to begin a safety assesment of the structure of the entire ground over the coming weeks.

The repairs of the North Terrace are looking like being an expensive and time-consuming proposition, especially so given the entire stadium is going to be knocked over the next two years, so, it is now starting to look like the IRFU are going to ask the GAA for the use of Croke Park from this coming February until the completion of work in Lansdowne. Here’s hoping that the GAA take a look in the mirror and remember all the donations the Irish People have made to help fund the building of their magnificent stadium, and decide to catch up with the 21st century!

One response to “Croker to host six nations?”

I refer you to my comments on this once (http://www.daraghmcg.org/2004/10/03/donations-to-the-gaa/#comments) again, re “donations”. Let’s remember the considerably more generous “donations” that the Irish people are making towards rebuilding a new stadium for the FAI and the IRFU (and the paltry contributions by these organisations to the cost).
Take a look around Croke Park - you probably may have attended the U2 concert there.
The GAA are already in the 21st century, what do the FAI and the IRFU call home?.
