Ireland to host round of World Rally Championship
5 07 2006It has just been announced by the FIA that Ireland is to host it’s own round of the World Rally Championship (WRC) next year. The event is scheduled to take place on November 18th - 20th 2007. Aside from hosting a round of the F1 world championship, or a MotoGP, this is probably the most prestigious motorsport event that a country can be awarded.
I’ve seen the Circuit of Ireland run around the proposed circuit this year, as part of the bid process for the rally, and I have to say, that the scenery looked absolutely spectacular, and, despite the guaranteed poor weather (c’mon, it’s Ireland in November after all), this should make for a wonderful event.
