Builders Week Documentary

20 12 2006

During the Niall Mellon Township Challenge Builders Week this year, there was a documentary shot, which illustrates really well what excatly it was that we got up to, and the fun that is had along the way with some really hard work. I’ve just put it online for people to download and see. Hopefully it will inspire some people to come along next November when 1000 of us will be heading down.

iPod Sync

6 12 2006

So, I want to sync tunes between two copies of iTunes, one on my Mac, and one on my work laptop, done via my iPod. In an ideal world, I’d love to be able to add tunes via either machine, rate them, play them etc, and have all these details synced via my iPod to both machines. Does anyone know how I can do this? I’ve seen iPodRip, but I’m not sure it’s going to do exactly what I want. I also can’t try it right now, as I need to install the .NET framework updates, and so not going to be doing that via ISDN.

Suggestions anyone?

Time for a change

5 12 2006

Ok, things are most definitely changing in my life right now, not sure if the blog is going to see any more action that the really poor levels it has seen over the past few months, but, I decided I ought to freshen up the look at least, so, that’s that job done. An upgrade to a new version of WordPress, and a new theme went far, far more smoothly than I had expected (have done it quite a few times in the past and always experienced some levels of pain!). Fingers crossed all stays working well now too and that the new theme is liked! :)

Yes Yes, we’re back

5 12 2006

Ok, yes, I have been back from Cape Town for a few days, and no, I haven’t blogged about it yet, and no, I didn’t blog about it whilst I was away either, so, my sincere apologies to anyone who was doing as I had told, and was keeping an eye out here for updates. The week was just so so hectic, that finding time to sleep was a challenge, let alone getting the laptop out to write about things.

What a week, easily one of the most amazing weeks of my life. I still don’t know where to begin when it comes to talking about what exactly went on during the week of the 2006 Niall Mellon Builders Blitz, but, it was crazy. What a great bunch of people to go away with, a bloody crazy bunch too. The important bit is that we managed to way exceed our target for the week of building 50 houses, in the end, completing 73 houses. Not bad for a weeks work. That means that over 400 people who two weeks ago had no homes to live in, now do. That’s such a rewarding and amazing thought.

Hopefully, as time goes by, I’ll be able to express things a little better, for now though, I’ll let the pictures do the talking. Check them out here
