No more echoooooo

16 05 2007

As a pretty heavy user of Skype on both my iMac and MacBook, one thing that really annoys me is echo when using the inbuilt speakers and mic. Lots of people have complained about this apparently, and in this blog post Skype have announced that they have gone a long way to resolving the issue in the latest 2.6 update for Skype for Mac. So, if you’ve got a Mac and you use Skype, go get the download, and give all our ears a rest! :)

UPDATE:

Since upgrading to 2.6.0.137 on my mac yesterday, I am no longer able to hear anything via my Motorola H500 bluetooth headset. The headset itself is working, and I am able to test audio output via Audio Preferences in Skype just fine. I have checked all volume settings etc, and have also tried my headset with another mac running an older release of skype without any problems. It also would appear that this is not the only headset that is experiencing issues in the latest release of skype.

If you are not using a headset, and you want to fix the issues with the internal mic / speakers, then go for this upgrade, if you’re using a headset, I suggest you hold out until Skype fix the issue.
